Getting Started
Set up your AI assistant in under 5 minutes.
1. Open Your Dashboard
After signing up, you'll receive an email with your dashboard link. It looks like:
https://c-xxxxxxxx.claw.logobot.chat/app?token=your-token
Bookmark this link — it's your main access point. The token in the URL is your password.
⚠️ Keep your link private
Anyone with your dashboard link has full access to your AI assistant. Don't share it publicly.
2. Connect WhatsApp
- In your dashboard, go to Channels
- Click WhatsApp → Show QR Code
- On your phone: open WhatsApp → Settings → Linked Devices → Link a Device
- Scan the QR code
- Done! Your AI is now on WhatsApp. Send it a message to start.
💡 Tip
Your AI starts learning about you from the first message. Tell it your name, what you do, and what you'd like help with.
3. Connect Telegram (Optional)
- Open Telegram and message @BotFather
- Send
/newbot and follow the prompts to create a bot
- Copy the bot token BotFather gives you
- In your dashboard, go to Settings and add the Telegram bot token
- Message your new bot on Telegram — it's now connected to your AI
4. What Can Your AI Do?
- Chat naturally — ask questions, brainstorm, discuss anything
- Remember things — "remember that my dentist is Dr. Schmidt"
- Set reminders — "remind me to call the plumber at 3 PM"
- Check email — connect your email for summaries and replies
- Write code — (Pro/Coder plans) build projects, fix bugs, manage files
- Browse the web — search for info, check websites
- Manage files — create, edit, and organize files on your server
5. Important Things to Know
AI Credits
Every message uses AI credits. Longer, more complex conversations use more. You can check your balance in the dashboard and top up anytime.
Your AI's Memory
Your assistant remembers conversations across sessions. It builds a profile of your preferences over time. This data lives only on your server.
Server Restarts
If your AI seems unresponsive, wait 1-2 minutes — it may be restarting. The server automatically recovers from crashes.
⚠️ Don't do this
- Don't ask your AI to "restart the gateway" or "kill the server"
- Don't share your dashboard link with others
- Don't store sensitive passwords in chat (use it for tasks, not as a password manager)
6. Factory Reset
If something breaks badly, you can reset your instance. This wipes all conversations and memory but keeps your connection settings.
Contact [email protected] and we'll reset it for you, or if you have SSH access (BYOK plan), run:
sudo /usr/local/bin/openclaw-reset.sh
